Location

Guarded by the iconic Bamburgh Castle which rises from its volcanic promontory with an almost mythic authority, this charming village combines the best of Northumbrian hospitality with a stretch of coastline with AONB status. Miles of stunning white sands stretch beneath the castle, from which you can take in views of the wildlife-rich Farne Islands and the fascinating Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Perfect for long dog walks, games, or quiet reflection, it's no wonder this is one of the most beloved beaches in the country.

You can enjoy fantastic fresh seafood at several restaurants in the village, perhaps during a relaxed brunch or with a takeaway from the Walled Garden Café, while the numerous tearooms and ice-cream shops are perfect for afternoon treats. There are also several great pubs for cosying up by the fire with a drink in the evening.

The whole area is bursting with things to do, dotted by a trail of castles and fortifications interspersed with pretty seaside villages all the way up and down the coast. For day trips, why not cross the causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne to trace the legend of St Cuthbert, explore The Alnwick Garden, or take a boat trip from Seahouses to spot puffins and seals in the outstanding Farne Islands nature reserve and seabird sanctuary.

The Little Things We Love

The tasteful Scandi style embraces the soft colours of the sea which fits perfectly with the cottage's relaxed beach location.

Don't take our word for it...

It is a beautiful, cosy cottage with everything you need. We had another wonderful stay in Bamburgh at a Crabtree and Crabtree cottage.
Dr Paterson Hallam, 15th April 2025

Don't take our word for it...

It was a gorgeous, cosy cottage. Love the views over the churchyard to the sea. It is the perfect spot for walks to the beach or a mooch in the newly revamped walled garden two doors down. We've had a lovely relaxing holiday.
Mrs McGivern, 28th March 2025

Don't take our word for it...

Firstly please thank the owners and housekeeper for keeping such a lovely cottage. It was our first time at St Aidan's Cottage but we use Crabtree & Crabtree every year for holidays. St Aidan's Lodge was excellent in every way. The off street parking was welcome as Bamburgh gets busy. The neighbours were very friendly on both sides. The cottage location was perfect with sea views out of all the front windows. The interior decor is neutral and very well done. The welcome pack was one of the best we have had and very much appreciated. Both the living room and dining room decor and furnishings were lovely and the bedrooms also with the double bed being extremely comfortable. The heating was set on auto and kept the house lovely and warm day and night. Although it is on one of the main roads through Bamburgh the road noise was never intrusive. Overall a great stay in a lovely conveniently placed cottage in a lovely village.

Don't take our word for it...

We had such a lovely stay in the cottage - it was just right for us. Enough things in the kitchen, comfortable lounge, nice hamper and dining room. The garden was also just right for the weather and location!! It was truly lovely and we would definitely recommend C&C as they were recommended to us to find a perfect holiday home in Northumberland. We look forward to booking again.

Don't take our word for it...

We had a lovely stay at St Aidan's Lodge, friendly welcome from housekeeper who was just leaving and really nice welcome basket. Cottage was very clean and comfortable, great location and views of church and sea, and nice sunny courtyard was great as the weather was so lovely. Booking was easy and I liked that you could book short break online without having to phone up for price which was the case with other agencies. Would definitely use you again.
Ms Wilkie, 1st April 2024

Don't take our word for it...

As usual the cottage was very welcoming and dog friendly, and also the cleanliness was second to none. The facilities and private parking were of great benefit and anyone using it for the first time would be more than impressed. Bamburgh is a beautiful place and everything you need is within walking distance, especially if you have a dog. We hope to return again next year to use the cottage again.
Mr & Mrs Tetley, 1st April 2024

Don't take our word for it...

We loved our stay, thank you. The cottage was so warm, cosy and comfortable - excellent given the winds outside! To be able to see the sea from my bed was joyful. Another feature we loved was the ability to walk to an amazing beach. The high quality of the cottage and all the contents was much appreciated and beds were comfortable too. We were impressed with everything about this break including your website and booking process. Just wish we could have stayed longer! And yes, we will return.
Ms Coulthard, 1st April 2024

Don't take our word for it...

We had a fabulous time at St Aidan’s Lodge. The cottage was in a prime location with the added bonus of parking, it was extremely well-equipped with good quality interiors. The cleanliness of the cottage when we arrived was exceptional and we would recommend this property to others. We shall certainly be looking at other properties via Crabtree and Crabtree and will be visiting St Aiden’s Lodge again in the future. Thank you for helping to make our holiday enjoyable!
