Location

With friendly local shops, quaint tea-rooms, cosy pubs and restaurants on the doorstep as well as miles upon miles of stunning white sands within walking distance it is part of the reason visitors return to this area year-after-year, and why it remains one of the most popular beach destinations in England.

For dining-out, you can enjoy fantastic fresh seafood at The Potted Lobster located in the heart of the village; the Castle Hotel for a hearty pub meal and pretty beer garden; or the Victoria Hotel if you like great pub food and some chat next to the fire. Alternatively try The Wyndenwell for an ice-cream, cake and coffee stop, or the Copper Kettle, a characterful little tea-room serving a selection of freshly baked scones and light-bites. For something a bit more informal en-route to the beach, The Hut sits on the edge of the sand dunes for a delicious bacon butty or a kipper bun.

For provisions, The Pantry is a super deli selling meats, cheeses, preserves, freshly baked bread and smoked fish as well as lots of naughty puddings which all come from renowned local suppliers across the area. For picnics or lunches on-the-go, they will prepare sandwiches on request along with freshly ground coffee, or can arrange for food hampers full of gourmet goodies to be made up for your arrival at your holiday home. R Carter has been the village butchers for 125 years serving only the finest locally produced meat, homemade pies and award winning bacon which is cured and smoked on the premises. The nearest Co-op supermarket can be found in nearby Seahouses.

The Little Things We Love

The tasteful Scandi style embraces the soft colours of the sea which fits perfectly with the cottage's relaxed beach location.

Don't take our word for it...

We thought the cottage was very comfortable and in a lovely location and would definitely recommended to others and stay again. The books and map of the area was useful as well and a nice touch. Thank you also for the welcome pack, it was very welcome! Oh and the neighbours are nice as well! I would definitely seek out Crabtree & Crabtree again if we were coming back to the area.

Don't take our word for it...

My father and I had a wonderful stay in St Aidan's Lodge. It is immaculate and we honestly thought we may have been the first to stay there given the condition of the property and all furnishings inside. The location is perfect, a short 5-10 min walk to the beach and castle and selection of restaurants. Many thanks for making the stay so enjoyable.

Don't take our word for it...

We really enjoyed our stay at St Aidan's Lodge and the location and views were fantastic. The beautiful walks we did were Bamburgh to Budle Bay, Beadnell to Low Newton and Bamburgh to Seahouses. We usually come to Northumberland twice a year as it is such a beautiful place.

Don't take our word for it...

Just got back from St Aidan's Lodge, Bamburgh. We just wanted to pass on our appreciation, the cottage is beautifully situated and the decor is perfect. All the amenities were of a high standard which we very much appreciated. Thanks again for the opportunity to stay in such a fabulous cottage. We hope to return one day, maybe when the weather is a little warmer.

Don't take our word for it...

Firstly please thank the owners and housekeeper for keeping such a lovely cottage. It was our first time at St Aidan's Cottage but we use Crabtree & Crabtree every year for holidays. St Aidan's Lodge was excellent in every way. The off street parking was welcome as Bamburgh gets busy. The neighbours were very friendly on both sides. The cottage location was perfect with sea views out of all the front windows. The interior decor is neutral and very well done. The welcome pack was one of the best we have had and very much appreciated. Both the living room and dining room decor and furnishings were lovely and the bedrooms also with the double bed being extremely comfortable. The heating was set on auto and kept the house lovely and warm day and night. Although it is on one of the main roads through Bamburgh the road noise was never intrusive. Overall a great stay in a lovely conveniently placed cottage in a lovely village.

Don't take our word for it...

We had a lovely time at this cosy home from home cottage. Everything was there that we needed (including the sunshine). Hopefully we will return to St. Aidans again next year.

We had a fabulous holiday, the cottage was lovely and was everything we wanted and one of the best we have ever stayed in. We would like to thank Crabtree & Crabtree for their excellent customer service from start to finish, we will definitely book again. I have also recommended your company to friends and family.

Please just pass on our thanks! It really is a beautiful cottage, and it was so refreshing to stay in a one which so much thought has obviously gone into. It was clean and very comfortable and the welcome pack was a lovely touch after a long journey - we really couldn't have been happier. The only problem will be finding another cottage somewhere else which stands up to comparison. We will be back!
Mr & Mrs Watson
It was a lovely cottage which was in an excellent location. It was really nice of you to leave a welcome pack for us. That was a nice touch. The cottage was bigger than what we thought it would be. Had a nice feel about it. Booking it was easy. Thanks all round.

We had such a lovely stay in the cottage - it was just right for us. Enough things in the kitchen, comfortable lounge, nice hamper and dining room. The garden was also just right for the weather and location!! It was truly lovely and we would definitely recommend C&C as they were recommended to us to find a perfect holiday home in Northumberland. We look forward to booking again.
Ms Tonnar
Had a lovely stay was my second visit to St Aidan’s and they’ve replaced the shower which is now fantastic and the courtyard is looking lovely.
Ms Wilkie
We had a lovely stay at St Aidan's Lodge, friendly welcome from housekeeper who was just leaving and really nice welcome basket. Cottage was very clean and comfortable, great location and views of church and sea, and nice sunny courtyard was great as the weather was so lovely. Booking was easy and I liked that you could book short break online without having to phone up for price which was the case with other agencies. Would definitely use you again.
Mr Gregory
We enjoyed our stay being blessed with very decent weather.
Ms Mault
We had a lovely week in Bamburgh with sunshine everyday! We found the cottage to be perfect, immaculate and so very convenient for the village. From booking to follow up emails and keeping updated re pandemic the customer service is first class.
Mr & Mrs Tetley
As usual the cottage was very welcoming and dog friendly, and also the cleanliness was second to none. The facilities and private parking were of great benefit and anyone using it for the first time would be more than impressed. Bamburgh is a beautiful place and everything you need is within walking distance, especially if you have a dog. We hope to return again next year to use the cottage again.
Mr & Mrs Kenny
We had a lovely time in Bamburgh, and the accommodation was excellent. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise, thank you for that. It was our first time we stayed in one of your properties and you will be our first choice if we are in the areas your cottages are situated.
Ms Coulthard
We loved our stay, thank you. The cottage was so warm, cosy and comfortable - excellent given the winds outside! To be able to see the sea from my bed was joyful. Another feature we loved was the ability to walk to an amazing beach. The high quality of the cottage and all the contents was much appreciated and beds were comfortable too. We were impressed with everything about this break including your website and booking process. Just wish we could have stayed longer! And yes, we will return.
Mr & Mrs Harker
We had a fabulous time at St Aidan’s Lodge. The cottage was in a prime location with the added bonus of parking, it was extremely well-equipped with good quality interiors. The cleanliness of the cottage when we arrived was exceptional and we would recommend this property to others. We shall certainly be looking at other properties via Crabtree and Crabtree and will be visiting St Aiden’s Lodge again in the future. Thank you for helping to make our holiday enjoyable!
Mr & Mrs Tyson
We have had a lovely week and found St Aidan's Lodge a well appointed, cosy cottage to stay in. We have enjoyed exploring the coast, visiting many of the villages and walking on glorious sandy beaches. We can highly recommend The Black Bull at Lowick and The Jolly Fisherman at Craster for delicious meals out.
Mr Whitwood
Firstly, thanks for allowing us to have such a wonderful holiday over Christmas in St. Aidans Lodge. It was perfect.
