A Unique Freehouse Pub in Alnwick, Northumberland
The Dirty Bottles, an iconic freehouse pub in Alnwick, Northumberland, offers a unique blend of history and modernity. Originally called Ye Old Cross Inn, the pub gained its current name from the legendary “Curse of the Dirty Bottles,” where untouched bottles have remained in the window for centuries.
Purchased and revitalised by local Mark Jones in 2014, The Dirty Bottles combines historical charm with a contemporary feel, thanks to a dramatic interior transformation by award-winning Collective Design. Located near the stunning Alnwick Castle, the pub features a refreshed menu that balances modern dishes with pub classics and caters to special dietary needs.
