Sitting in an exceptionally lovely village location with Bamburgh Castle as the stunning backdrop, this comes pretty close to coastal heaven! Designed for two but with capacity for four, the cottage has been newly refurbished in a classic New England style with a blend of soft natural colours inspired by beach pebbles and driftwood.

The double-height sitting room with original exposed beams features a cosy wood burner which is perfect for all seasons, two large sofas for rest and relaxation and a small table with dining space for two.

The spacious double bedroom with its charming church style window has a king size bed which links to a small second bedroom with twin (2’6”) beds, which are perfect for children but can also accommodate adults if space is not a factor. The beds have deep mattresses and quality bed linen for a restful night’s sleep.

There is a compact but well-equipped kitchen to the rear of the cottage, which leads out to a small but private terraced patio garden for sitting-out on glorious summer days or an evening barbecue.

ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATION

For guests looking to holiday together, the Bamburgh Estate also offer Neville Tower (sleeps 4) and The Clock Tower (sleeps 4+1) within the walls of the castle itself. Located in Bamburgh village, Grove House (sleeps 4), Windley (sleeps 4), Rose Cottage (sleeps 4), Curlew Cottage (sleeps 2+2), Sandhills (sleeps 3), St Aidan's Lodge (sleeps 4) and Wren Cottage (sleeps 3).

Location

Guarded by the iconic Bamburgh Castle which rises from its volcanic promontory with an almost mythic authority, this charming village combines the best of Northumbrian hospitality with a stretch of coastline with AONB status. Miles of stunning white sands stretch beneath the castle, from which you can take in views of the wildlife-rich Farne Islands and the fascinating Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Perfect for long dog walks, games, or quiet reflection, it's no wonder this is one of the most beloved beaches in the country.

You can enjoy fantastic fresh seafood at several restaurants in the village, perhaps during a relaxed brunch or with a takeaway from the Walled Garden Café, while the numerous tearooms and ice-cream shops are perfect for afternoon treats. There are also several great pubs for cosying up by the fire with a drink in the evening.

The whole area is bursting with things to do, dotted by a trail of castles and fortifications interspersed with pretty seaside villages all the way up and down the coast. For day trips, why not cross the causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne to trace the legend of St Cuthbert, explore The Alnwick Garden, or take a boat trip from Seahouses to spot puffins and seals in the outstanding Farne Islands nature reserve and seabird sanctuary.

The Little Things We Love

A bracing morning walk on the beach then back to this lovely cottage, the pale aquas and muted tones lend an air of peace and serenity, the perfect place to relax.

Don't take our word for it...

Kingfisher Cottage is beautifully decorated with everything required for a comfortable holiday. The welcome pack of food was much appreciated. The location is perfect, with the imposing castle and lovely beach within easy access. It was good to have a designated parking space too.
Mrs Henderson, 20th March 2025

Don't take our word for it...

Fabulous all round. Great service from you. Kingfisher cottage was top notch - for a change the web pictures & description absolutely did match what we found. Really impressed with the standard of the cottage - best we’ve stayed in. Location is outstanding - as long as you appreciate stunning views of a castle from your doorstep, miles of empty golden beaches and pubs to get a refreshing pint in within a 30 second walk! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone - in fact I already have. What a sunrise too...
