Ideal for two guests or four, this is a real home-from-home with plenty of lovely touches which are sure to strike a chord, including a warm welcome and a hamper of local produce to ease you into holiday mode.

First impression is one of lovely period charm with views across open farmland towards the Cheviot Hills and an abundance of wildlife spotting opportunities right from the cottage garden. French doors lead into an inviting open plan living space with two bedrooms positioned on either side. The overall feel is warm and inviting combining a scheme of duck egg blue along with sunny yellows and pretty florals.

A cosy wood burner is perfect for relaxation, while artworks of Lindisfarne Castle and bird life celebrate the works of local artists and their close connection with the nearby heritage coastline. Indoor entertainment includes a flat screen TV with complimentary Netflix, use of an i-pad, Google smart speaker as well as a super selection of books. The kitchen is compact but ideal for holiday living and a Nespresso machine is certain to give any coffee lovers out there that all important start to the day!

The cottage is ideally-positioned for exploring the Borders and North Northumberland including the National Park and the stunning coastline which is only a 20 minute drive from the cottage. Edinburgh is an easy day trip; just over an hour by car or 45 minutes on the train from nearby Berwick-upon-Tweed. The cottage has access to an EV charging point on site.

The Little Things We Love

The unlimited supply of logs means you can enjoy toasty days in front of the wood burner - perfect for those weekend out-of-season escapes.

Don't take our word for it...

We adored the cottage and thought the layout, style and location were excellent. The views were breathtaking and we had a most peaceful and relaxing stay. We would highly recommend the cottage and wished we could have stayed longer.

Don't take our word for it...

We had a lovely stay at Heritage Cottage. The cottage itself was superb and very clean, the welcome basket was also a nice touch. We are from a large town and are unable to see many stars on a night, but the area where the cottage was situated was amazing, as there was very little light pollution we saw and photographed the amazing skies. This would be a selling point for any astronomy enthusiasts, like ourselves. I have already recommended Crabtree & Crabtree to my friends and we will hopefully be booking again some time in the future!
Hanson family, 2nd April 2024

Don't take our word for it...

Enjoyed the cottage very much. Owners were pleasant and helpful. The wood burner was extremely efficient and easy to light, we had it on 4 nights out of our 5!
Macdonald family, 2nd April 2024

Don't take our word for it...

I thought the cottage was super actually. Probably the nicest I have stayed in yet with Crabtree & Crabtree. You should make more of the fact it is so close to the Ladykirk beat on the Tweed which is where I was fishing.
Davies family, 2nd April 2024

Don't take our word for it...

We enjoyed our stay thanks very much, it's a beautiful area. Thanks very much to Crabtree & Crabtree for their expert services, I'm sure we'll book again.

We've all been warm and comfortable, thanks to the owners regular supply of logs. Thank you both for the generous welcome pack, with tasty flapjacks. For those who like views and soltitude, we had a great run over the Lammermuirs in snow covered conditions but sunny weather - the views of the Cheviots were fantastic! Thank you for making us feel welcome!
Watt family
We've had a fabulous stay in this beautiful cottage - what a gem! The owners have made us feel so welcome - gorgeous welcome hamper, the most delicious homemade flapjacks! Back to reality tomorrow, but feeling refreshed and recharged.

We had a great time at the cottage. Lovely cosy and comfortable. Lovely owners and thanks to the owners for making us so welcome and providing a lovely hamper on our arrival. Cottage is in a fantastic location perfect for relaxing and exploring the wonderful borders countryside and coast. Plus Northumberland of course. Highly recommended.
Mr & Mrs Wilkin
We have had a wonderful, peaceful stay. The cottage is excellent. Everything we needed and more. Great place to explore the coast and inland. We'd be happy to return and see all the things we still haven't visited - thanks again! An extra thank you for the thoughtful additions to the hamper to make it gluten free - we really appreciate your kindness!
Thornton James family
A long drive up but worth it. Delightful little cottage with everything you need. Quiet, comfortable, light and warm - particularly with the benefit of the log burner in the evenings. Delightful, warm and friendly welcome and lovely hamper. Cannot fault!
Burton family
Thank you for a lovely stay. We've had a great week so much to do and see in the area and a fantastic base. We loved watching the birds in the garden. This is a great cottage, we've felt at home and everything provided that we needed and more. Kelso worth a visit and a highlight was Fast Castle just north of St Abbs - off the beaten track but worth seeking it out.
Ms Wheelhouse
Wonderful hosts. Thank you so much for the generous hospitality and attention to every detail. Beautiful cottage, clean and extremely comfortable. Our stay, though too short, has been wonderful. Peace perfect peace. Thank you for being so kind. Your welcome hamper was very generous indeed. The flapjack was the best we've ever tasted!
Mr & Mrs Mackenzie
We've had a lovely week with beautiful weather. What a lovely, peaceful cottage. Thank you for your kindness - much appreciated.
Mr & Mrs Ashley
Beautiful cottage, peaceful location and well placed to visit so many places! The very generous welcome basket was much appreciated.
Mr Shorrock
We had a lovely time at Heritage Cottage thanks. The hosts were pleasant & knowledgeable about the area. The welcome pack was generous. The cottage was stylish & spotless. Most important of all, the basics were there - toilet roll, matches, bulbs all the dull little things whose absence can spoil a break. One to remember.
Mr & Mrs Lavender
We had an enjoyable week at Heritage Cottage. Having never visited the Scottish Borders before, it really does feel like another country. We welcomed the peace and quiet and the fact that minor roads were often completely empty - except for us! As for the property, we found it perfect for our needs. It was clean and well-equipped, with a beautiful outlook onto fields and the Cheviots beyond. Above all, the owners were welcoming and willing to help and advise if and when required. We would not hesitate to use Crabtree & Crabtree again if staying in the area.
Runham family
Heritage Cottage was a wonderful place to stay. Lots of care and attention from the owners to give their visitors a wonderfully comfortable stay. Highly recommend it.
Mr & Mrs Ford
We received a very warm welcome from the owners who ensured we were quickly settled in knowing everything we needed to know about the area and the wonderfully comfortable cottage. We felt immediately at home and The Heritage is definitely the best Crabtree & Crabtree cottage we have stayed in. Thank you to the owners for all the small finishing touches which really do make so much of a difference to your holiday and for an outstanding welcome basket. The cottage is located in a beautiful area with lots of places to explore and we will be back. If you are wanting to explore the Scottish Borders or Northumberland this cottage would be a perfect base to do so.
Anderson family
Heritage Cottage was fantastic! An idyllic spot, comfortably furnished with wonderful views over surrounding countryside, attentive hosts and beautifully fitted out. The welcome pack was extremely generous as were the owners with their time in discussing plans for outings. It's one of the best places we've stayed in and would be keen to return. First class!
Togus family
Just wanted to say what a beautiful stay we had at Heritage Cottage and the owners were fantastic hosts. The cottage is stunning. Spotless and home from home in a stunning location. One of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in.
Beswick family
Firstly what a wonderful time we had during our stay at Heritage Cottage. I cannot thank the owners enough for letting us stay in their cottage and for all the little touches. They both certainly go the extra mile. We have rented many properties home and abroad and they are in our top three. I also want to thank the staff at Crabtree and Crabtree. Excellent service and advice. Your company is one I would definitely use and recommend in the future.
Koning family
Heritage Cottage was wonderful up to every last detail. Our hosts couldn’t have been more helpful. I would certainly recommend Heritage Cottage to our friends. A 10 from us.
Mrs Richardson
Just to say we had a fabulous week in Heritage Cottage. The owners were so welcoming in every way. The cottage was so comfortable and warm. All the little extras were very appreciated and a wonderful welcome basket much enjoyed. A stunning location too for those that like the quiet and a beautiful autumn countryside. This is a hidden gem! Sad to leave!
Mr Scorer
Heritage Cottage is simply fantastic! Perfect size for two adults and two dogs. The hosts were most gracious from the outset, greeting us on arrival, showing us round and making sure the log burner was roaring away making the place lovely & cosy. The welcome pack was the best we've experienced with the homemade flapjacks and bottle of single malt to enjoy a particular highlight! Nearby fields and woodland gave the dogs a nice mile round trip to start each day off too. Even with the sunshine we were unusually blessed with at this time of year it wasn't quite warm enough to enjoy the beautiful outdoor terrace but that'll keep for next time, and I'm sure there will be. Thanks again.
Ms Leal
We had a great stay at Heritage Cottage. The owners were lovely and had the log burner started and a lovely welcome hamper for us when we arrived! We enjoyed exploring the local area and plan to be back in the near future!
