Enjoy unbeatable sea views in a wildlife haven on the coast of Northumberland.
Set within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this thoughtfully designed retreat makes the most of its spectacular position. Commanding panoramic views of Budle Bay, beloved by bird and wildlife watchers, the house enjoys endless views of the North Sea. Named after its previous role serving as the apple store for the grand Waren House, today it’s powered by solar panels and warmed by underfloor heating, combining its stunning natural environment with advanced technology and luxurious details.

On entering the house through the courtyard, you’ll find a large hallway with plenty of storage for hiking boots and raincoats, a utility room, and a cloakroom with a WC – perfect for shaking off the sand and salty air after a walk on the beach. The first of four bedrooms lies to the right of the hall and is home to a king size bed and doors which lead out to the garden, as well as a contemporary ensuite bathroom next door with combined bath and shower.

Also lying on the ground floor, the spacious open-plan living and dining space has been designed to make the most of those spectacular sea views. Cosy armchairs and sofas gather around the stylish modern fireplace, while further seating and a coffee table are set beside the large three-panel glass sliding doors – perfect for taking in the coastal scenery with a coffee and a good book in the morning. A wooden dining table creates an inviting place to gather for meals while the large family kitchen can be found next door, boasting a range cooker, coffee machine, and a central island with bar stools. French doors open out into the front garden, drawing even more sunlight and refreshing sea air into the house.

The three further bedrooms all lie upstairs. The master bedroom is home to a super king size bed and its own seating area beside expansive windows which look out across the waves, as well as an ensuite bathroom next door with a large walk-in shower. The third bedroom features a king size bed and enjoys more of those stunning sea views, while the fourth is the perfect for children with its twin beds and colourful artworks. These bedrooms share a smart family bathroom, fitted with a combined bath and shower.

Outside, a lawned garden borders the front and side of the house, where a wooden picnic table and outdoor seating are perfect for enjoying drinks al fresco on warmer days. A short walk will take you down to the bay, where you’ll be accompanied by diverse birdlife including sandpipers and oystercatchers, as well as the seals and dolphins which are often spotted darting amidst the waves. You’ll also be spoilt for choice for spectacular beach walks, historic sites, and local pubs to enjoy nearby, with the wonderful village and castle at Bamburgh only two miles from your door and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne under half an hour away by car.

Access door off the secure courtyard and driveway. This leads directly into a large hallway with bench seat and hanging rail.

To the right of the access hall sits bedroom one with king size bed, side tables, dressing table with drawers (can also double as a work desk), chair, large wardrobe with storage and hanging rail.  This bedroom benefits from a climate control/air conditioning unit. External door to the side garden.  

En suite bathroom with bath and shower over (with separate mixer), heated towel rail, basin and WC. 

Large open plan sitting room/dining area with comfortable sofa and armchair set around an integrated living flame gas fire which adds both warmth and ambience to the room. Wall mounted Smart TV. A further sofa and snuggler chair are positioned in front of the large three-panel glazed sliding doors to take advantage of the views across the coast. Dining space with seating for eight guests. Bookcase with a number of books and games. This room benefits from a climate control/air conditioning unit.

Kitchen with Deluxe Rangemaster double fan assisted oven and grill, five burner induction hob, microwave, filter coffee maker, Nespresso Magimix coffee maker (pod type), fridge/freezer (4 drawer), full size dishwasher, Dualit four-slice toaster. Small central island with two bar stools.  There is an additional small drinks fridge in the dining room. French doors from the kitchen lead out to the front garden.   

FIRST FLOOR

Bedroom two – large master bedroom with super king bed, side tables, chest of drawers, Art Deco wardrobe and dressing table, table, full length mirror.  This bedroom benefits from a climate control/air conditioning unit. Two chairs are positioned in front of a glass Juliet window with wonderful views across Budle Bay. 

En suite bathroom with large walk in shower with separate mixer, heated towel rail, basin and WC. 

Bedroom three with king size bed, side tables with drawers, dressing table, wardrobe with hanging rail and storage. This bedroom benefits from coastal views. 

Bedroom four – ideal for children – this smaller room has 3ft twin beds, side table, chest of drawers, wardrobe with hanging rail and storage. This room benefits from coastal views.

Family bathroom with bath and shower over (with separate mixer), heated towel rail, basin and WC. 

OUTSIDE

Off the front access, there is a secure enclosed courtyard for parking. To the front and side of the property is a lawned garden. A wooden picnic table and outdoor seating sits to the side of the property. 

There is no lockable external storage area. A barbecue is not available. 

Private parking for two cars in the inner courtyard. A third car may be parked in front of the gates off the main access road. 

Location

Guarded by the iconic Bamburgh Castle which rises from its volcanic promontory with an almost mythic authority, this charming village combines the best of Northumbrian hospitality with a stretch of coastline with AONB status. Miles of stunning white sands stretch beneath the castle, from which you can take in views of the wildlife-rich Farne Islands and the fascinating Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Perfect for long dog walks, games, or quiet reflection, it's no wonder this is one of the most beloved beaches in the country.

You can enjoy fantastic fresh seafood at several restaurants in the village, perhaps during a relaxed brunch or with a takeaway from the Walled Garden Café, while the numerous tearooms and ice-cream shops are perfect for afternoon treats. There are also several great pubs for cosying up by the fire with a drink in the evening.

The whole area is bursting with things to do, dotted by a trail of castles and fortifications interspersed with pretty seaside villages all the way up and down the coast. For day trips, why not cross the causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne to trace the legend of St Cuthbert, explore The Alnwick Garden, or take a boat trip from Seahouses to spot puffins and seals in the outstanding Farne Islands nature reserve and seabird sanctuary.

The Apple House is a detached property with a private, enclosed garden. The property sits in an elevated position in the small hamlet of Waren Mill, with two neighbouring properties directly opposite.
