Discover coastal calm in the fishing village St Abbs, home to a clifftop nature reserve and endless sea views.
With its understated mid-century modern styling and enviable location within walking distance of Coldingham Bay, this detached cottage is the ideal base for immersing yourself in coastal life. Set within the pretty seaside village of St Abbs, stay here and enjoy long days spent surfing the waves, strolling along the clifftop trail, or simply watching the world go by from a café on the harbourside. Surrounded by fresh sea breezes and blue horizons, Windyridge is the quintessential coastal bolthole for an escape with family or friends.

A symmetrical white-washed cottage with a sage green door, this welcoming property is laid out entirely on one level. Enter through the hallway into the open plan living space, where a soft blue sofa and retro armchair gather around a log burner. Joined by an inset bookcase, large window, and a contemporary seascape on the wall, it’s a relaxing nook for winding down in the evening. The kitchen and dining area lies at the other end of this airy space, where wooden countertops and modern fittings combine functionality with laid-back cottage charm.

The three bedrooms can all be found to the right of the hallway, comprising a super king, double, and twin. Capturing the coastal colour palette of blues and creams, the bedrooms are warm and inviting and are each elevated by the subtle touches of brass lamps, patchwork quilts, and antique furniture. The smart family bathroom lies at the centre of the home, fitted with a tall rainforest shower and decorated with neutral modern tiling.

An enclosed garden stretches to the rear of the cottage, complete with a flower-lined lawn and a table and chairs perfect for relaxing on the patio. The separate outhouse is the ideal place to store all your beach gear from boogie boards to buckets and spades, as well as housing a washer where you can get your swimwear ready for another day in the water. A selection of children’s wetsuits is available for guest use, while the surf shop down by Coldingham Beach is the place to go to organise instruction and surfboard hire.

Set on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the country, St Abbs is a characterful little fishing village which you’ll delight in calling home. Birdwatchers will love St Abb's Head National Nature Reserve, a stunning rocky promontory beside the village where colonies of diverse seabirds gather on the cliffs. Daily charters from the harbour offer scuba diving, snorkelling, and wildlife tours in the waters of the Berwickshire Marine Reserve, populated by minke whales, bottlenose dolphins, and seals, while the coastal path – just a few minutes from the door of Windyridge – is sure to tempt you out for an evening stroll at sunset.
