A Historic Landmark in Golfing Heritage
Muirfield, home to The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, has a rich history dating back to 1744. Originally played on Leith Links and later Musselburgh, the club moved to its current location in 1891, where it has continued to uphold its distinguished golfing tradition.
The clubhouse, constructed in 1891 with a distinctive Elizabethan design, was initially described as a ‘box-framed’ salon. Over time, it has been refined with extensions, becoming a striking feature behind the 18th green. This traditional clubhouse offers sweeping views of the course and showcases an extensive collection of golfing memorabilia, reflecting the deep heritage of Muirfield.
