Hepple Wilds
A Landscape Reawakening at Hepple
Nestled in Northumberland National Park, Hepple Whitefield is a privately owned estate where nature is shaping the landscape. With 80% of its 4,000 acres open for access, the land is managed with minimal intervention, allowing wildlife such as curlew, red grouse, and lapwing to thrive. A pioneering approach called ‘managed wilding’ is restoring biodiversity from the ground up—enhancing soil carbon, fungi, vegetation, and insect populations while promoting naturalistic planting, organic grazing, and wetland restoration.
Throughout the year, the estate hosts bespoke events and training opportunities, inviting visitors to engage with its evolving landscape. From nocturnal wildlife walks to photography workshops, these gatherings highlight the beauty and complexity of Hepple’s rewilding journey, where nature takes the lead in shaping a more resilient future.
