Vindolanda
A Journey Through Time on the Edge of Hadrian’s Wall
Nestled near Hexham, Northumberland, just south of Hadrian’s Wall, Vindolanda offers a unique glimpse into Roman Britain, distinct from other sites along the Wall. Situated on the historic Stanegate Road, this ancient fort and village were occupied for over 300 years, serving as a crucial frontier settlement even before Hadrian’s Wall was built.
