The 7stanes are a collection of seven renowned mountain biking centres spread across the south of Scotland, from the Scottish Borders to Dumfries and Galloway. Each centre, set in Forestry and Land Scotland forests, features a unique ‘stane’ (Scots for stone) crafted by artist Gordon Young, integrated into the forest trails.
Glentress, the flagship of the 7stanes, offers a variety of trails suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. With award-winning routes, a skills area for practice, and proximity to Edinburgh, it attracts riders from the UK and beyond. Innerleithen Forest, another 7stanes destination, is famous for its extreme downhill trails and challenging XC routes. For those who enjoy walking, Glentress also offers scenic hikes with views of the River Tweed and historical trails dating back to the Bronze and Iron Ages.
