A Rich History & Commitment to Sustainability

The story of Howick Hall is intertwined with the legacy of the Grey family, including Charles, the 2nd Earl Grey, famously associated with the tea that bears his name. The estate’s gardens were largely shaped by the 5th Earl Grey and his family, who embraced a naturalistic style of gardening that continues today. The Hall itself, rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1926, reflects both its historical roots and adaptations over time. Sustainability and conservation efforts are integral to the management of the gardens and arboretum, which host a rich array of flora and fauna, including rare species.

Stay at the Howick Hall Estate

The Howick Hall estate is home to the 18th-century Littlehoughton Hall and the delightful Littlehoughton Farm Cottage. Both dog-friendly and ideal for gatherings of friends and family, they’re also perfectly positioned for holidays spent exploring the nearby village of Craster and the vibrant town of Alnwick. Closer to home, guests can also look forward to enjoying complementary access to Howick Hall during their stay.
