Yorkshire Day
On 1 August 2026, communities across the county celebrate Yorkshire Day, honouring Yorkshire’s heritage and identity.
Steeped in history, 1 August commemorates the regimental anniversary of the Battle of Minden and is also the anniversary of the emancipation of slaves in the British Empire in 1834, which William Wilberforce, a Yorkshire MP campaigned for. Established in 1975, Yorkshire Day has grown into a day filled with festivities including parades, markets, food events and civic celebrations.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience Yorkshire pride and local culture at its most vibrant.
