A contemporary coastal cottage with unbeatable sea views in the village of Low Newton-by-the-Sea.

Set moments from the beach at Low Newton-by-the-Sea, Eastfield is a dog-friendly coastal retreat which enjoys some of the most breathtaking sea views in Northumberland. With both Low Newton beach and nearby Embleton Bay being lauded as among the best you’ll find in the country, it’s an excellent base for a coastal holiday throughout the year. Enjoy views through the vast windows in the open-plan living area and bedrooms alike, spotting the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance and looking out for seabirds from dawn until dusk.

Close to the beach and spread across two floors, Eastfield enjoys a prime seaside location and benefits from off-road parking for three medium-sized cars at the front. Step into the cottage moving through the inner hallway, where there’s storage space for boots, wellies and coats. This then leads into the spacious, open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area, which enjoys magnificent sea views through picture windows. Decorated in a neutral colour palette and with underfloor heating throughout, it’s a light and inviting place to gather. The ceramic hob and large American-style fridge/freezer in the kitchen make dining as a large group a breeze, while the comfy corner sofa in the living area is perfect for settling in with a film in the evening.

The first bedroom, which is decorated in a minimalist coastal theme, lies on the ground floor and features a king size bed with a calming blue bedspread, fish print cushions and eye-catching rope knot lamps. An en suite wet room lies just off it, accessed through a pocket door. Large windows make the most of the panoramic sea views, and the fresh air can be brought inside through the door which leads onto the patio at the rear of the cottage. At the front of the cottage, the second bedroom is fitted with twin beds and benefits from the ground-floor family bathroom with a combined bath and shower.

The further two bedrooms are equally bright and relaxing and lie upstairs on the first floor. Bedroom three is complete with a king size bed and a large dormer window with chairs and binoculars positioned to take advantage of the stunning sea view. Bedroom four features a double bed, and a contemporary bathroom serves both rooms with a corner shower.

Outside, a south-facing garden with patio furniture takes in the panoramic views across the coast towards Dunstanburgh Castle. The beach is just a short wander from Eastfield, and a scenic National Trust coastal footpath runs along the rear perimeter of property to Beadnell, or take the circular coastal walk from Low Newton-by-the Sea, past the castle and along to Embleton Bay and to the historic village of Craster – best known for its iconic smoked kippers. A little further afield, the medieval market town of Alnwick is just a 20-minute drive away, as is Bamburgh with its fairytale castle, cosy tearooms and expansive beach.
