The perfect base to gather family and friends with incredible views of Bamburgh Castle.

Set on Links Road in the village of Bamburgh, Castle View is only 350 feet from the magnificent fort which towers above on a grassy volcanic crag. An enviable front-garden bench enjoys uninterrupted views of the castle, as does the rear deck which is the ideal spot for warm summer evenings spent socialising.

The home’s front also faces onto the cricket green where games are often played, plus you’re only a few minutes’ stroll from the attractive village’s delis, tea rooms, ice cream-serving cafes, and pubs, including the popular Potted Lobster restaurant. Behind Bamburgh Castle begins a memorable golf course and a namesake sandy beach that stretches for miles.

This is a bolthole where, even at capacity, guests will never feel crowded. The open-plan layout creates this airy atmosphere, as only a partition wall — containing a Smart TV and a remote-controlled electric fire — divides the sprawling, three-sofa living area from the spacious dining room and Shaker-style modern kitchen. Fixtures are modern and luxurious, while the design throughout is clean and bright, aided by a light-flooded glazed roof lantern and those outstanding views..

You’ll also find a separate tea-and-coffee bar in the dining room, a separate snug with armchair and a football table, and a handy utility/boot room too. The interior styling includes modern paintings, lantern-style lamps, and exposed stone walls which all contribute to the contemporary but inviting character of the house.

There are two bedrooms on the ground floor with en-suite shower rooms, while the upper floors host the remaining six bedrooms, from a master suite with its own romantic castle views to two second-floor bedrooms with bags of character snugly built into the eaves. All bedrooms are pristine, decorated in soothing coastal colours and marine-themed wallpaper and are ensuite, two with deep roll-top bathtubs.

While views of the castle can be admired throughout the property, it's those from the al fresco terrace that are sure to stick in the memory. The terrace is accessed via French doors that connect the living area to the deck, and with plenty of comfortable seating and an outdoor firepit it really is a prime spot to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Location

Guarded by the iconic Bamburgh Castle which rises from its volcanic promontory with an almost mythic authority, this charming village combines the best of Northumbrian hospitality with one of the finest stretches of coastline in the country. Miles of stunning white sands stretch beneath the castle, from which you can take in views of the Farne Islands, Dunstanburgh Castle, and The Holy Island of Lindisfarne.

You can enjoy fantastic fresh seafood at several restaurants in the village – or an unparalleled bacon butty from the butcher – while characterful tearooms and ice-cream shops are perfect for afternoon treats. There are also several great pubs here, perfect for cosying up by the fire with a drink in the evening.

The whole area is bursting with things to do, dotted by a trail of castles and fortifications interspersed with pretty seaside villages all the way up and down the coast. For day trips, why not cross the causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne to trace the legend of St Cuthbert or take a boat trip from Seahouses to the outstanding Farne Islands nature reserve and seabird sanctuary.
