York, once the capital of Viking territory, is a stunning walled city founded by the ancient Romans. With York Minster, the impressive 13th century Gothic Cathedral, at its centre it is perfectly placed between London & Edinburgh with the glorious Wolds, North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales right on the doorstep.
The Yorkshire Wolds may be a little less known than the Moors or Dales but is brimming with quaint Villages, rolling hills, riverside walks, traditional country pubs and stately homes. The rolling chalk hills and valleys reach from the coast at Flamborough westwards towards Malton and then south to the Humber Bridge.
