If you’re anything like us, then holidays wouldn’t be holidays without a few tasty treats. From nibbling on local cheese and charcuterie over a glass of wine with your loved ones in the garden to sharing a spectacular Sunday roast or spread of the freshest seafood with your friends, some of the best and most enduring holiday memories are made over great food.
Making it easier for you to find – and enjoy – some of the best local produce we’ve teamed up with six of the finest producers in the North of England and the South of Scotland, adding them to our already popular Doorstep Delivery Service.
This exciting service includes everything from parcels of delicious fresh produce and meal kits, to all manner of craft and activity boxes for both young and old(er), with an ever-growing list of partners. All of which are delivered straight to the doorstep of your Crabtree & Crabtree holiday home.
So, without further ado - let us introduce you to our six new foodie partners:
I.J. Mellis
Regarded as “Scotland’s iconic cheesemongers”, family-run I.J Mellis has been dedicated to procuring the finest farmhouse and artisan cheese for over 28 years. Focusing on quality, I.J. Mellis works closely with cheesemakers, small scale producers and local Scottish suppliers to bring a wide selection of delicious and high-quality cheese, chutneys, cheese biscuits and natural wines to cheese-lovers across the UK.
Peelham Farm
Committed to organically rearing pastured cattle, pigs and sheep, Peelham Farm is an award-winning, family-run farm located just off the Berwickshire Coast in the Scottish Borders. With an onsite butchery, smoker and charcuterie workshop, the family produce meat from their organic, pasture-for-life livestock and make organic charcuterie, salamis and sausages.
The Berwick Shellfish Co.
Situated in a prime position close to the banks of the River Tweed and the North Sea, The Berwick Shellfish Co. is ideally located to catch and land the freshest seafood – including lobsters, scallops, mussels, kippers and oysters – from the crisp, cool water on both sides of the border: a spot they've been operating from for over 50 years. From dressed lobster and crab to seafood platters and king prawns there’s plenty to choose from whatever the size of your party.
Thistly Cross
Founded by an artist and a farmer who joined forces in 2008 to become Scotland’s first cidermakers, Thistly Cross specialises in handmaking small-batch, traditional ciders from good quality local fruit. From fruity ciders blended with Scottish fruits, elderflower or berries to rich apple ciders matured in whisky casks or old-fashioned still ciders there are plenty to try!
Pilgrims Coffee
Pilgrims is a family run, ethically-minded roastery and coffee shop, located on the beautiful Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Founded by Victoria and Andrew Mundy in 2006, Pilgrims coffee house brings top quality beans from around the world into the hands of the UK’s coffee lovers. Fresh, rich and aromatic, their signature blends are playfully named ‘Daily Bread’, The Holy Grail’, ‘Fire and Brimstone’ – nodding to the religious history of the mysterious island.
Leftfield Kombucha
Born out of a quest to find – and subsequently make – an interesting fizzy but non-alcoholic drink, Leftfield Kombucha was founded in Eyemouth in 2016 by beer brewer Geraint and his creative wife Jo. Set on creating something pure that packed a punch yet was wholly good for you, they decided to turn their hand to making Kombucha from fine teas. Using distinctive teas such as oolong, black, green, white and Darjeeling, Leftfield Kombuchas are naturally tart and complex, delivering a fine drinking experience without the hangover. We’ll cheers to that!
