Overview

A charming, two-bedroom cottage ideally positioned to enjoy the best of coast and country.

Just over a mile’s stroll from pretty Alnmouth village and beach

Located in the hamlet of Lesbury, with riverside walks on your doorstep, The Gallery sits between historic Alnwick Market Town and the golden sands of the Northumberland coastline.

Approached up the winding front path, this traditional stone cottage is simply packed with character. The open-plan living space with its soft grey walls, large profile floor titles and tactile furnishings welcomes you inside and sets the tone for the warm and inviting ambience that flows throughout. With seating and dining areas and a sleek brown Shaker-style kitchen with a breakfast bar, this open-plan space has been designed to feel relaxed and social. It’s a place to cook and dine together before curling up on a sofa in front of the log-burning stove.

The sitting area is centred around the striking inglenook stone fireplace, around which rich chestnut leather sofas are positioned – this is the ideal spot for an evening glass of wine while dinner is being rustled up in the corner. To one side, patio doors open into the front garden, creating a wonderful indoor-outdoor flow.

In the ground floor bedroom, elegant grey tones and warm timber finishes create a soothing atmosphere in which to drift off in on the king-size bed. With a door that leads directly to the parking area at the rear of the cottage – as well as its own marble-titled bathroom with rainfall shower and underfloor heating – this bedroom suite is ideal for guests of limited mobility.

Wind your way upstairs, past the picture gallery and the small study area – perfect if you need a dedicated space to catch up on emails – on the landing. Featuring local artwork from seascape and sketches of marine life, many of the pieces throughout The Gallery come from The Old School Gallery in the neighbouring village of Alnmouth, which is within walking distance of the cottage, in case you’d like to find an artwork to take home.

With its dramatic vaulted roof space featuring timber beams and super-king bed edged with a snuggly sheepskin rug to keep your toes cosy as you hop in and out of bed, the master bedroom offers a luxurious haven. Double doors open into a spacious en-suite bathroom where you’ll find a wet room-style rainfall shower and a deep, freestanding contemporary tub – perfect for soaking in after a day spent exploring.

Ideally placed for visiting Northumberland’s quaint villages and wealth of historic sites, including nearby Warkworth Castle and the bustling town of Alnwick you won’t be short of things to do if you want to adventure from the house. With it being so close to the coastline to, there are wonderful coastal walks and expansive beaches just waiting to be discovered too – all of which are dog-friendly all year round, so you can enjoy them with your four-legged friend whenever you decide to visit.

The cosy, country pub The Coach Inn is just a short stroll from the cottage in the centre of Lesbury – a great spot for a relaxing drink after a beach walk or country hike (Open Wednesday – Sunday).

Reviews

"It was fantastic! It is located in a great location near to Almouth, main line station, beaches, supermarkets and a short drive to Alnwick. The cottage oozes quality with two beautiful bedrooms delightfully furnished both en-suite with the upstairs having a large bath as well as walk in shower, an open plan modern fully equipped kitchen that leads onto a lovely living space with dining table, leather sofas and fantastic fireplace accompanied with a log burner. There are patio doors which lead into a patio area and a large garden. The ‘ Gallery’ has been named for the amount of quantity artwork displayed around the cottage which gives it a homely feeling. This cottage is a lovely place to stay and we can’t imagine anyone not loving it and wanting to return, I know we will, tomorrow if we could!"
