Overview

Beautifully appointed, the Coach House is perfectly positioned for both coast and country and offers a perfect retreat to indulge family, friends or corporate guests to a stay in luxury surroundings.

Just a five minute drive to the golden sands of Alnmouth

Formerly the old coach house for the Lesbury Estate, a great deal of thought has gone into the development of this property and the result is a perfect fusion of comfort and elegance with meticulous attention to detail.

The ground floor has immediate impact opening up into a generous open plan living space which flows seamlessly from the high spec catering kitchen with granite surfaces, walnut bar and wine fridge to a superb dining space which seats eight comfortably.

With high vaulted ceilings, the property has grand proportions yet retains warmth and intimacy with a double-sided wood burner connecting the dining area to the sitting area, all beautifully balanced with original stonework, rich oak floors and beams, vintage leather and Harris Tweed to introduce warmth and texture to this incredibly atmospheric space.

The four en-suite bedrooms are serene and streamlined featuring a neutral colour palette and high quality finishes which perfectly complements the rest of the property. Super king beds, luxurious duck down duvets, high quality White Company bed linen and underfloor heating in the bathrooms all add to the feeling of quality and well-being.

For country sports enthusiasts, facilities include a boot room (with underfloor heating) and gun cabinet, with kennels and stables available to guests at additional cost. Outside, there is a private courtyard with outdoor seating for al-fresco dining and summer barbecues, external storage, a communal garden, and off-street parking for four vehicles.

The cosy, country pub The Coach Inn is just a short stroll from the cottage in the centre of Lesbury – a great spot for a relaxing drink after a beach walk or country hike (Open Wednesday – Sunday).

The beach is easily accessible from Lesbury - a scenic twenty minute walk or a short five minute drive will take you directly onto this wonderful stretch of coastline.

From here head north and south to explore the pretty coastal villages of Craster and Warkworth, or take a boat charter from the docks of Amble Harbour to the RSPB reserve of Coquet Island which is home to over 36,000 sea birds, including thousands of characterful puffins.

For those seeking high energy adventures, the area is popular for surfing and kite surfing and there are a number of accredited surf and watersports schools up and down the coast for those looking to try something new in a relaxed teaching environment.

There are a number of walks from Lesbury to Alnmouth, including an extremely pretty 6km loop which takes in the meandering course of the River Aln, superb views of the ’18 arches’ railway viaduct, all the way down to the estuary, harbour and beach. For long distance walking routes, St.Oswald’s Way and the North Sea Trail both run nearby, and cyclists will delight at the many coves, magnificent heritage sites and wildlife havens along the Coast & Castles route which runs all the way from Edinburgh to Newcastle.

Reviews

"We had a wonderful time… beautiful property."

Ms Brock

"My family and I enjoyed every moment of our stay in the Coach House. Absolutely superb accommodation, you seemed to have thought of everything. We loved the area around Lesbury and the grown ups would need no persuasion to return. We shall look back on our week in Lesbury as guests of Crabtree and Crabtree with great pleasure."

Roberts family

"We have had a fantastic stay at the Coach House. The house was well appointed and user friendly. The staff and the whole booking service was impeccable. It is very difficult to find any fault."

Mrs Marr

"I have to say the Coach House more than met our expectations. It was brilliant to find a property suitable for an adult group, all en suite rooms, large king sized beds, proper wooden shutters for a dark, quiet room, it was wonderful to have such a comfortable environment for best sleep we’ve had in ages. The kitchen was marvellous too, so much space and well equipped. Also loads of space in the laundry area for our golf clubs and secure storage for the bikes meant we were never tripping over anything. We loved the outdoor space too, made use of the BBQ a couple of nights and the garden was a delight as was the village itself, so yes, definitely intend to book again as there’s so much to see and do in the area. Thanks also for making the booking process flexible whilst we were waiting for the restrictions to lift."

Ms MacBain

"The Coach House is fantastic and the service we had from Jane was absolutely superb - please pass on our thanks. The house is gorgeous, and very well located. We were there to celebrate my daughters wedding in the Alnwick Gardens Treehouse and the house gave us a fantastic base, with lots of room for everyone to have their own space. Thanks again, we will certainly be booking with you in the future."

Richards family

"We have recently returned from a great holiday in this most beautiful barn. Congratulations must go to the owners as they have made this house a delight to stay in. The quality of the furnishings, bedding , toiletries and all the very generous extras that they provide is very much appreciated. The hamper and quality of the food in it was extremely kind , and very much enjoyed by all. Housekeeping staff to be congratulated on standard of cleanliness. In all a beautiful house to stay in. I must also thank the team at Crabtree & Crabtree for all the help that they have given me over the years that I have been dealing with them. We go on holiday a lot but the quality and professional way they work is first class. In my opinion they are the best agents in the business. We have never been disappointed with any of the houses we have rented. Keep up the good work. Thank you all."

Mrs Stewart

"The property was of a very high standard and we really enjoyed our stay."

Williams family

"As you know we stayed at the Coach House in Lesbury last week and I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed it. The house was superbly equipped, very spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. We would certainly recommend it to others and hope to return there sometime in the future."

Mr Yellowlees

"Just wanted to say how much we have enjoyed our stay at the Coach House. It is a beautiful property and every bit as gorgeous as it looks online."

Whitby family

"We would like to say we had a brilliant holiday last week. The weather was very kind to us - we did several beach walks in Alnmouth, Bamburgh and Amble. Some of visited the Farne Islands and actually saw puffins for the first time - we have always come up too late in the year before. This is our first time with your company and if all of your cottages are of the same standard at Coach House, then we would certainly use you again. The house was beautiful and fulfilled every need we had. We have never had so many nice touches before (and we have stayed in many, many cottages). The hamper was lovely and very welcome."

Hamilton family

"Many thanks for allowing us the use of the Coach House. It was beautifully presented in every way. Lesbury as we found out was a lovely centre for us explore Northumberland. From the coast to Kelso we wandered far and wide enjoying your beautiful county."

Matthews family

"We had a lovely weekend, thank you. The Coach House is a beautiful property that has been kept to a very high standard. We will definitely be staying here again."

Parker family

"We enjoyed the house very much. It is very well appointed and in an excellent location. We would certainly recommend the Coach House and would return ourselves."

Bryden family

"We had a lovely stay at the Coach House, Lesbury - thank you. Everyone commented on how stunning the property was from the minute they opened the door. The living area space was wonderful for a group of 8 - so cosy and definitely had the "wow" factor. Bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely-comfy beds and cosy linen and it was commented by a few of the ladies that it was lovely to have such nice toiletries in the bathroom. Welcome hamper was very much appreciated and such a lovely touch. We felt that both the interior/exterior look of the house was presented to a very high standard. You expect to have a weekend away in a house that you could only dream of being your own....and this one certainly lived up to expectations! Thank you again-we are already planning our next Crabtree & Crabtree weekend away."

Cowe family

"We had an excellent stay at the Coach House and I would recommend it without hesitation. Crabtree & Crabtree service was outstanding and I have nothing to suggest that needs improving. Thank you for your assistance in arranging our holiday."

Whitlie family

"We had a wonderful time at the Coach House and already working out when we can return next year! The house and surroundings are beautiful!"

Mccartney family

"Just to say we enjoyed our stay at the Coach House very much... a lovely property in an excellent location. All very good, and in retrospect we all wished we had booked for longer. Hopefully we might be back!"

Sadler family

"I only have good things to say about Crabtree & Crabtree and the property that we hired for the weekend. The booking process and information I received was first class and I couldn't fault the service. Coach House at Lesbury was absolutely stunning. A beautifully restored and decorated building that had plenty of space for the 4 couples staying at the property. All of the bedrooms were an excellent size with very comfortable beds. It is a luxury to be able to find a property that has 4 en-suite bedrooms, a large lounge and dining room and a beautiful kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked with crockery, glasses etc. And even though I had taken things like salt, pepper, oil, tin foil, cleaning materials, tea and coffee, it was lovely to see that these things had been left from previous visitors as some rental properties leave nothing at all. The 'welcome' pack left for us was amazing and had some very tasty goodies in it!! I wouldn't hesitate in using or recommending Crabtree & Crabtree again for holiday rentals and hope to stay at the Coach House again."

Magnay family

"We had a fantastic weekend, thank you – the cottage was wonderful, really high spec and beautifully decorated. We would definitely stay at the Coach House again, hopefully for longer than a weekend."

Lucas family

"We have just returned home from a very relaxing weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful. The house is beautiful, well designed and of very high quality. There was a very generous welcome basket to greet us. Our time there was far too short and we hope to return soon. It is the first time we have booked through Crabtree & Crabtree and found the booking process efficient and easy."

Ibbotson family

"The accommodation was perfect - a brilliant location, beautifully decorated and equipped and very homely."

Wingate Family

"Firstly I would like to say what a lovely property The Coach House is, it is everything we expected and more, we have stayed in around 10 different property over the last few years and this one is up there if not the best. Thank you to the team who work on the property."
