Gullane is an exceptionally attractive coastal town based on the banks of the Firth of Forth. A hotspot for golfers, the town is home to a variety of prestigious member-only clubs, including Muirhouse Links and Gullane Golf Club, previous hosts of The Open Championship and ASI Scottish Open, respectively. For those not quite up to championship standard there is Archerfield Links golf course, which offers a more relaxing golfing experience. Ideal for amateurs and enthusiasts, it's located by the pretty neighbouring town of Direlton, which is just a short drive from Gullane.
In Gullane, you're also spoilt for choice when it comes to fine dining with Tom Kitchin's 'The Bonnie Badger' and the award winning La Pointinère on the doorstep, while sweet cafes, ice cream parlours and characterful restaurants will hit the spot if you're looking for something a little more relaxed.
A short walk from the picturesque town centre takes you to Gullane Bay, a charming stretch of white sand that boasts beautiful views across the Firth of Forth to the Kingdom of Fife. Stroll towards the Black Rocks at the beach’s West End and you’ll find quaint rock pools and thousands of washed up clamshells to appeal to the smaller adventurers among us. Lesser known than the beaches towards North Berwick, Gullane Bay offers an equally perfect location for a romantic getaway as it does for a fun-filled family day out.
