The stunning heritage coastline is just a short twenty minute drive with miles of pristine sandy beaches, jolly pubs serving the freshest fish and chips, and picture postcard coastal villages with charming galleries and gift shops.
Birdwatchers, walkers and photographers will delight in the stunning cliffs and coves of the Berwickshire coastline where you will spot thousands of seabirds and seals around the St. Abbs Nature Reserve or cross the causeway at low tide to the very beautiful Holy Island of Lindisfarne where you will experience nature at its very best.
There are some wonderful walks around the area, and more serious walkers and cyclists can link into a number of long distance routes including the Berwickshire Coastal Path, or St.Cuthberts Way which take in the spectacular scenery and rich wildlife of the area but which all have easier stretches and shorter routes for those seeking a more leisurely pace.
Walk for miles on the stunning sandy beaches around Bamburgh or simply enjoy the simple pleasures of a picnic watching kite surfers soar across the bay on sands which remain almost deserted even in the summer months.

"Delighted to say we had a fantastic week long stay at Whitehall West Lodge. The cottage was beautiful, very spacious, in excellent condition throughout and in a fantastic location on the edge of a private estate on the outskirts of Chirnside. This offered easy access to local amenities (2mins drive to Chirnside and a short 10 min commute to Berwick Upon-Tweed) and access to beautiful off-road walks for us and our dogs directly from the property. Thank you again to the owner and the extended Crabtree & Crabtree family."O'Brien family

Warm, welcoming and spotlessly clean with the most comfortable beds to sink into at the end of a busy day exploring. Would thoroughly recommend a visit."Mrs McCreadie & Family
"We did indeed have a wonderful time at Whitehall West Lodge. The house is very comfortable, stylish and interesting. It is extremely well equipped, really a home from home in terms of having everything you need whether it be for cooking, entertaining the kids or relaxing. The house was perfect for a family like ours. The kids absolutely loved the table tennis table, the only downside being I must now try and buy one for our home. We played cricket in the garden in the evening and on the one rainy afternoon we all enjoyed counting the house's ball collection. There are lots of interesting houses and castles to visit in the local area and we enjoyed a day at the seaside at Spittal. Great holiday and the owner was friendly and helpful, we will definitely return."Baker Family
"We all had a fantastic holiday last week in Whitehall West Lodge. The occasion was a family birthday and my wife and I celebrated along with our three grown up children and their wives / husbands. The house was great for our group with great communal space for entertaining but also plenty of space to have individual time. The personal family details in the house added to the experience and we enjoyed the owners music collection and reading their books. We would have no hesitation in recommending Whitehall West Lodge to anyone looking for a beautiful, restful family holiday."Dodds Family
