Tailored perfectly to fit, this impeccably stylish town house on the doorstep of Alnwick Castle offers boutique style living at its very finest. Offered on an exclusive use basis, this has the cosy, comforting feeling of a country retreat with a decidedly luxurious edge!

Exclusive use on a fully catered basis

Here the arrangement means you can concentrate on spending time with your guests, whilst letting others worry about the finer details. This includes an in-house team to attend to your catering and hospitality needs, right through to bespoke events and outdoor pursuits - from an after-dinner whisky tasting in the company of good friends to a fully driven shoot day on the glorious estates of the surrounding area.

The beauty here is in the detail, each of the eleven en-suite rooms carefully designed to ensure absolute comfort whilst respecting the integrity of this fantastic historic building. All rooms feature signature drench showers, oversized fluffy towels and blissful toiletries, along with finest linen and Hypnos beds - perfect for indulging in those blissful weekend lie-ins.

The property has four room types to choose from, ranging from cosy and intimate to luxury suites with heavenly bath tubs, each one perfectly elegant with rich, warm textures and soft mood lighting.

The very aptly named ‘Chapel’, the Mother Superior of all suites is sure to be a top choice where the magnificent restored features of this former Convent with stained glass windows and carved wooden beams are balanced beautifully with buttery leather accents and sumptuous finishes.

Please note - this property does not offer self-catering. Guests will not have access to the main kitchen, though each bedroom has tea and coffee making facilities.

Accommodation

The property sits on three floors and the accommodation is made up of four room types - one super-suite, two superior suites, five luxury rooms, and three cosy rooms. There are TV's in all bedrooms.

The property is let on a catered basis.

There is a wheelchair accessible lift in the property, and the Goswick room has been specially adapted for accessibility. Please ask for specific details.

Ground floor

Cosy lounge area with library seating up to sixteen guests.

Dining room with capacity for up to twenty-two guests.

Important - please note that guests do not have access to the kitchen area. There are tea and coffee making facilities in each of the bedrooms.

Ground floor cloakroom.

Heated boot room with boot racks and storage. Secure individual gun cabinets for sporting parties.

First floor

The Chapel - this luxurious super-suite features all the beautiful features of the former chapel such as stained glass windows and carved wooden beams. Drench shower and a heavenly bath tub for the perfect soak in the underfloor heated bathroom. This has a custom designed, luxurious bed and a 60-inch flat screen TV.

Holy Island - takes its name from the tidal island just off the Northumberland Coast. This beautiful, sunny room is located on the first floor, with a south facing bay window revealing views of Alnwick Castle. This room also includes a super king size bed for a peaceful night’s sleep.

Bamburgh - named after one of the finest sights in Northumberland, this first floor room is light and spacious and is west facing with a view of Bailiffgate. Generously proportioned, it has a super king size bed and a beautifully roomy bathroom. This room can be interconnecting with Bailiffgate.

Second floor

Linhope Spout - is inspired by the spectacular Northumberland waterfall of the same name. The Linhope Spout room is one of the superior rooms and is large and luxurious. With south-facing with views of Alnwick Castle, this room has a four-piece bathroom suite with a heavenly bath tub for the perfect soak and features a super king size bed for a sound sleep, which can also be converted to a twin.

Dunstanburgh - named after the 14th century castle found between the villages of Craster and Embleton. This light, west facing room with views over Bailiffgate, features a large configuration, which holds a super king size bed and a beautifully roomy bathroom.

Goswick - inspired by the inspirational home golf club of the Cookie Jar owners, this room is located on second floor and is specially adapted room for accessibility, offering a spacious bedroom and bathroom. It has views over Bailiffgate and features a super king size bed, which can also be converted to a twin.

Bailiffgate - named after the 14th century castle found between the villages of Craster and Embleton, this light, west facing room has views over Bailiffgate. It features a super king size bed and a beautifully roomy bathroom.

Sweethope Loughs - named after a renowned local fishing spot. This is an intimate room with outstanding views to the rear of the former Convent looking over the policies and grounds of Alnwick Castle. This room features a snug and perfectly considered king size bed.

Third floor

St. Cuthbert’s Cave - taking inspiration from the reputed final resting place of the renowned monk of Lindisfarne, St Cuthbert’s Cave can be found on the third floor. This large and luxurious room has views over the courtyard and onto Alnwick Castle and features a super king size bed for a restful sleep, a spacious four-piece bathroom suite with a heavenly bath tub for the perfect soak.

Alnmouth - takes its name from the beautiful Coastal village, located at the mouth of the River Aln. Found on the third floor and featuring picturesque views over the roof tops of Alnwick, this charming, cosy room is full of charisma and features exposed beams and a king size bed.

Harehope - named after the shooting fields of Harehope Estate, this charming, cosy room can be found on the third floor and is full of charisma and features exposed beams and a super comfortable double bed.

Outside

Garden is fully enclosed two tiered south-facing garden with plentiful seating and fire pit.

Cigar shack is positioned at the bottom of the garden.

There are five outside kennels in the enclosed garden.

Parking

There is on-street parking directly outside the property with a number of parking permits available for guest use.

Babies & Children

A travel cot and highchair available.

Dogs

Dogs considered on request. Outdoor kennel facilities provided.

Guest amenities

Luxury oversized towels, fine linen and toiletries are provided. Complimentary spring water, coffee from Pumphrey’s of Northumberland and English teas and infusions in every room.

Catering

The property is offered on a catered basis subject to the requirements of the party. Please note - this is priced separately to the overall cost of the property rental. It is also important to note that guests do not have access to the kitchen area. There are tea and coffee making facilities in each of the bedrooms.

Location

You will find an excellent range of amenities and an eclectic mix of charming specialist shops in Alnwick. Wander the cobbled streets and gift shops around the marketplace, or stop-off at one of the many quaint cafes across the area, including Bari Tea based in the Castle Quarter for a very lovely lunch or a decadent afternoon cream tea!

For provisions, you will find plenty of choice - try award-winning Turnbull’s for fine food and quality meats; The Alnwick Deli for delicious local produce, cheeses, hampers and gifts; or the Alnwick Bakery for home-baked bread, pies and pastries. There's a market every Saturday, a Farmers' Market on the last Friday of every month, and a large supermarket nearby for all your holiday essentials.

While there, seek out Barter Books - ‘a book heaven’ with thousands of paperbacks, hardbacks and collector’s editions based in a beautiful former railway station, or pop into the super Bakehouse Gallery showcasing the work of local artists and designers.

For a dining experience with a difference, the Treehouse Restaurant at Alnwick Gardens is not to be missed. Set high in the treetops, it is a magical spot to spend an evening, featuring local fish and seafood, meats from Northumberland’s farmlands, as well as other regional specialties all within a lovely ambient setting. Alternatively head to the pretty fishing village of Craster to sample the legendary oak smoked kippers from L Robson & Sons; or the Jolly Fisherman pub, famous for its crab sandwiches and mussels.
