A charming, detached stone cottage set on a truly special Yorkshire estate.

Located just a short stroll from the spa on the Swinton Estate, this detached stone cottage effortlessly combines rustic character with the most restorative highlights of country living. Guests enjoy complimentary access to the Country Club and spa at Swinton Park Hotel, with its numerous well-regarded restaurants and cafés also lying within easy reach. Comprising 20,000 acres of quintessentially beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, the estate is dedicated to protecting wildlife habitats and offers endless opportunities to explore its diverse landscapes – from calming lakeside walks to days on the trails in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Unlock the picket gate and proceed up the garden path to the cottage, whose chocolate-box façade is complemented by climbing leaves which wind between its symmetrical sash windows. Hooks for hanging game remain in the beams above the entrance hall – one of many original features which reflect the sensitivity of the cottage’s restoration. The living room lies off this hall, where two cosy sofas gather by the log burner in its inglenook fireplace while a window seat creates a lovely spot to pause and enjoy views out to the garden.

The formal dining room is also situated off this central hall. A bright and atmospheric space overlooking the estate’s boundary walls, it’s perfect for a dinner party or celebratory meal. Set beneath vaulted beams, the kitchen lies next door and features its own large farmhouse table warmed by a traditional wood burner, creating a welcoming setting for lazy brunches and informal suppers. Doors allow you to spill straight out onto the garden’s expansive sunken stone flagged terrace which stretches the full length of the cottage. Here you can fire up the barbecue and dine al fresco on summer evenings, while the lawn is sure to appeal to energetic dogs and children alike and is safely enclosed by a stone wall.

A utility room and shower room are also on hand on the ground floor while all three bedrooms can be found upstairs, two of which boast king size beds and the third a super king which can also be configured as twins. Each room is decorated in its own colour palette, with warming fabrics and gallery walls creating soothing spaces in which to retire at the end of the day. The bell tower of the Grade II* listed castle which houses the hotel and spa can be seen from the bedrooms, highlighting the enviable position the cottage enjoys on the estate. A family bathroom also lies on this floor, featuring a bath with shower over, floral patterned walls, and cream wooden panelling.

With over 200 acres of parkland and gardens on your doorstep and the invigorating hills of Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Dales within easy reach, the cottage allows you to make the most of some of the country’s most remarkable landscapes. This wild beauty is combined with all the creature comforts and family activities to be enjoyed within the bounds of the estate – from yoga spa days to wild swimming and birds of prey handling opportunities – with free taster sessions rendering it the perfect spot to try something new and enjoy the very best the area has to offer.
