Lying in the stead of an Iron Age Fort, the estate’s Augustinian priory was established no later than 1135 in the reign of Henry I. In addition to the custodianship of this fascinating heritage, the estate’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of locally sourced produce, ethical toiletries, and efforts to minimise its environmental impact, including the elimination of single-use plastics. This dedication to preserving its natural and historical legacy ensures that guests can enjoy the estate’s beauty responsibly.
