Work from away

With working from home measures in place for the foreseeable future, more than ever we’re finding ourselves dreaming of a tranquil change of scene away from the same four walls that we see every day at home.

While there are times that we need a dedicated holiday where we can unplug, relax and hide away from it all, there are other times – like now – where working from away can satisfy our wanderlust.

Here at Crabtree & Crabtree, many of our holiday homes have all the ingredients needed for a productive ‘workcation’. Think stylish study areas filled with natural light, calm spaces that encourage undisturbed focus, wonderful interiors to jazz up your zoom background, a steady Wi-Fi connection and stunning views of land and sea to inspire your work.

Whether you want to escape your routine, to explore somewhere new or to be closer to friends and family so that you can meet up for a walk or a drink after work, the beauty of remote working is that you can pack up and set up your laptop just about anywhere…

Keep scrolling to discover our pick of holiday cottages that are perfect for a winter workcation – all of which are offering a 20% discount on stays of two weeks or more until the end of March with the exception of Valentine’s Day and February Half term dates (12th-16th February).

For peace and quiet

There is nothing like a bit of peace and quiet to focus the mind. Escape your day-to-day routine and its associated distractions with a sojourn in one of these rural hideaways. A far cry from city life, Romilly, Lucy, and East Lodge at Ashiestiel all have patios, gardens and stunning views over the surrounding verdant countryside making them ideal places to escape for a tranquil workcation.

For super-fast Wi-Fi

Fed-up of pixelated work calls and your internet connection dropping out at the critical moment? Leave your internet stresses at home and book into the super-sleek Shepherd’s Bothy, Ploughman’s Bothy. Set in the extensive grounds of the old Whittingehame estate, these stylish boltholes are fitted with all the mod-cons – including superfast broadband delivered via its own dedicated fibre BT connection to ensure excellent signal in every room – for an extremely well-connected stay.

For sea views

Sweep away the work ennui with a refreshing stay at one of our Scandi-chic beach apartments at Coldingham Bay. Superbly located just a stone’s throw away from the kilometre-long white sandy beach, these stylish apartments have sweeping panoramic views over the bay, large sliding doors to let in that invigorating sea breeze and sheltered private balconies – the perfect spot for a relaxed coffee break. Start the day with an early morning swim to kick-start your working day and end it with a peaceful stroll on the sand.

For Zoom-worthy interiors

For interiors that will wow your colleagues on your next zoom call book a stay at the ever-so-stylish Lilylaw, Campsie Cottage or Rowchester West Lodge. Each cottage is exceedingly well decorated – think gentle Farrow & Ball colour schemes, designer wallpaper, sumptuous throws and fabrics, sink-into-them soft beds and deep claw-foot bathtubs – so makes for some seriously enviable work call backgrounds. You’ll just have trouble choosing where to set up your laptop in order to show it off!

For a workcation à deux

If you fancy burrowing away with your loved one for a cosy working holiday then these bijou boltholes are just the ticket. Small but perfectly formed, Pigeon Loft, Hiddenhus and Crailing West Lodge have everything you need – and more! Work side by side at the kitchen table or curled up on the sofa with your laptops by a roaring log fire before stopping for a good lunch of local goodies. After work, pour yourself a well-earned drink and unwind with a long soak in a bubble bath – heaven!

For plenty of space

Due to government restrictions we’ve all spent too much time cooped up in our homes. If you’ve been dreaming of stretching out in airy rooms and revelling in acres of space then Lowtown Cottage and Lane Cottage are an ideal choice for your workcation. Sleeping 4 and 6 respectively, both cottages and surrounded by magnificent walks, woodland trails and cycle paths offering plenty of opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy nature – the perfect antidote for restriction-induced cabin fever!
