Wine Tasting

Enquiry>

Understanding the unique characteristics of that fine Bordeaux whilst trying to consider the rules of food and wine pairing can all seem a little dizzying at times......and dare we say even a little daunting!

So whether you enjoy the odd glass or two in good company with friends, or are a passionate foodie looking for a little help selecting the right wine for that special dinner party, a wine tasting experience is a fantastic way to expand your palate and knowledge in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Typically a wine tasting will cover......

  • Wine regions
  • Grape varieties
  • Basics - the importance of the wine glass.
  • Appearance - how to look, tilt and evaluate the colour.
  • Aroma - the correct way to nose, swirl and release the aroma.
  • Taste - the importance of taste and flavour.
  • Technique - how to sip and swish like an expert!

Crabtree & Crabtree are well placed to arrange bespoke wine tastings and masterclasses, so if you are interested in planning an event or a special celebration either at your holiday home or perhaps seeking an intimate venue elsewhere, please contact us with a brief and we would be happy to help you make those connections.

Alternatively for an informal evening out, the Wine Cellar is a wonderful venue in an old stone built manse in the historic hamlet of Ednam near Kelso. It has a fantastic reputation for its weekly food and wine tasting suppers, offering guests an opportunity to sample an interesting selection of wines typical of a region or country accompanied by a delicious three course menu to complement the theme of the evening. Designed to be fun and informative, the evening also represents excellent value for money. Places are limited to 16 and private groups and parties can all be catered for.
