Overview

A snug coastal retreat in the charming coastal town of Alnmouth.

Just the ticket for solo travellers or couples exploring the Northumbrian coast

With its tranquil sandy beach, bounty of local birds and wildlife, and picturesque cluster of pastel-painted houses, Alnmouth is a deservedly popular spot on the Northumberland coast. The Upper Deck is ideally situated to explore this picturesque village on foot, with its winning location on Marine Road placing its pubs and restaurants within a five minute walk.

Accessed by an external stone staircase, this open-plan studio apartment optimises every inch of space and feels light and airy thanks to its lofty pitched roof, punctuated by sky lights, large window and understated décor. It comprises a well-appointed kitchen area with dining table for two, a studio living space and sleeping area with a double bed, and a separate shower room. Like a hotel suite with the bonus of its own kitchen, The Upper Deck further adds a small decking area overlooking Alnmouth Village Golf Course, with the expansive white sand beach beyond it.

Perfect for solo travellers or couples, the compact retreat is the ideal solution for visitors who wish to retain some independence while travelling as part of a larger group, as fellow guests can stay in the adjacent two-bedroom Marine House Cottage sitting just off the main access courtyard.

When not enjoying the sandy beach on your doorstep or picking up artwork created by local artists in the nearby Old School Gallery you can enjoy some of Alnmouth’s popular annual events, such as the summer Arts Festival and October beer festival. Keen golfers will not only have Alnmouth Village Golf Course within putting range but are likely to have Alnmouth Golf Club in their sights - established in 1869, it’s England’s fourth oldest golf club and boasts spectacular views over Foxton Bay to Coquet Island and the North Sea.

Just slightly further afield, the historic town of Alnwick lies five miles inland from Alnmouth, offering a selection of pubs, restaurants, local shops and a regular farmer's market in addition to the majestic Alnwick Castle. Home to the Percy family for over 700 years, the Castle is perhaps best known for its starring role as Hogwarts School in the Harry Potter films while the award-winning Alnwick Garden features the famous Treehouse and Poison Garden, including recently opened Lilidorei.
