Located in one of York’s handiest addresses for holidaymakers, Number 107 is in an ideal location for your visit. Stay here, opposite the ancient Roman walls, and you can plan stress-free sightseeing like the Vikings once plotted their plunders! Bursting with museums, history and food, the city centre or riverside are barely five minutes away on foot with the infamous Shambles and York Minster a further 15-minute stroll.
Number 107 is situated just off thriving Bishopthorpe Road, which was once named as Britain's best high street. It’s a cute, vibrant spot where you’ll find restaurants, gelaterias, quality cafes and handy greengrocers. The owners reckon that The Pig & Pastry serve Earth’s premier breakfasts.
Part of a conversion of the former Britannia Inn, Number 107 is especially great for older teens thanks to the provision of both a basement cinema and games room. The latter features a full-size foosball table, while the former — in the original, low-ceilinged pub cellar — sees bean bags face a 75-inch Smart TV with Netflix, Britbox and Disney+.
Upstairs, you’ll find freshly baked cakes awaiting your arrival in the open-plan kitchen-dining space. That kitchen is equipped with everything you’ll need; not just mod-cons like a large fridge-freezer, but dishwasher liquid and considerate store-cupboard staples. A log-burner stands ready in the living area for winter evenings, and there’s high-speed broadband throughout.
The master bedroom includes an original fireplace with its king-size bed. There’s a bigger, superking-sized bed — which can also be set up as two singles for children— in the hideaway attic bedroom, then an additional single room plus the possibility to request a Z bed (for a small additional fee) should another person be staying. All three bright bedrooms boast black-out blinds, ample storage and USB charging ports.
And all three share a bathroom whose deep, Japanese-style tub compliments a walk-in power shower. Underfloor heating adds an extra dose of luxury here.
Outside, the courtyard’s table and chairs, flanked by old red-brick walls, allow for a soothing glass of wine after energetic days spent exploring.
That exploration is likely to focus on York, but wider adventures are also a cinch. It’s just ten minutes’ walk to York station, from which trains serve pretty Harrogate and foodie Malton, or you can usually drive to sandy beaches, the Moors or Dales within an hour.
While Number 107 works very well for teens, tots or toddlers are just as welcome — baby baths, cots and highchairs are all available on request. This is one of three neighbouring, three-bedroom properties (along with Number 109 and Spencer on the Lane) which may be booked together by larger groups should availability allow.

First Floor
Bedroom one with a king size bed and pocket sprung mattress, bedside tables, wardrobe, mirror and dressing table

Second Floor
Bedroom three with zip and link super king double bed (can be configured as 3' twins if required), chest of drawers and hanging space. Black out blinds on all windows.
Outside
Outside, in the petite courtyard garden, there is a table with chair and bench seating available. This area has rear access which is lockable so can be used for bicycle storage if required.
Parking
There is a 10-minute drop off parking zone in the access street just next to Number 107.
The owners can arrange space in a private car park, which is 2 minutes walk away, for £5 per day.
There is also a public car park 2 minutes walk away for £13 per day.
Electric Vehicle Charging
For safety reasons, we do not permit electric vehicle or hybrid car charging at this property. If you’re travelling by EV, discover your nearest electric vehicle charging point here.
There are a number of electric and rapid electric charging points available in a long stay car park which is a two minute walk away.
Babies & Children
A travel cot and highchair are available on request. There are a variety of child-friendly games and books available on request.

Dogs
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at a charge of £20 per stay. Dogs must be kept to the ground floor and are not allowed on the furniture.
Guest Amenities
The beds feature high-quality linen with duvets and pillows.
Towels are provided along with a hairdryer in each bedroom and a selection of guest toiletries in the bathrooms.

There is free high speed broadband Wi-Fi throughout the house and there is good 4G signal available on most networks.
Heating
There is central heating provided throughout the ground, first and second floors. A woodburning stove is also available in the living area.
In the basement, there is an electric wall heater.

Location
From Number 107 it is only a ten-minute walk into central York where you can soak up the history of the city along the quaint cobbled streets along The Shambles, filled with a rich and varied heritage and then wander on to discover the impressive architecture of the Gothic cathedral York Minster. Also within easy reach is the River Ouse where you can enjoy a gentle stroll by the waterside towards York with views of the famous York City Walls along the way.
Just metres from the doorstep and you can hop on one of York’s infamous open-top buses and explore over the finest attractions that this thriving city has to offer with access to world-class museums, galleries, and experience. With attractions such as Clifford's Tower, York Castle Museum and the National Railway Museum only the tip of what is on offer, you can fill ever day with a new and exciting activity.
The wonderfully eclectic ‘Bishy Road’ is nearby with a range of independent shops, cafes and businesses. Here you can stock up your hamper for your days exploring with a large variety of excellent products from The Pig and Pastry, one of the top-rated neighbourhood cafes, or have an indulgent wine-tasting experience at the local wine bar and then enjoy the prime people watching spot at The Angel on the Green.
York is perfectly placed between London & Edinburgh with the glorious Yorkshire Wolds, North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales right on the doorstep. With a leading train station at the heart of the city, you are within an hour’s travel of a multitude of destinations. Why not explore the wonderful beaches and coastline at Scarborough and Bridlington or take a trip to Goathland in the North York Moors, featuring the infamous 'Hogsmeade' train station from Harry Potter, to experience the wild beauty of the National Park.

As you can imagine, the culinary delights on offer in York are endless from street food at the Sparks community hub to a Michelin star experiences at Tommy Banks’ Roots situated at the entrance to the delightful Museum Gardens. An expansive food court at the Shambles Market means you can also pick up some delightful treats to take back to Number 107. This historic and vibrant market is home to York’s largest group of independent traders and also has live music featured throughout the year.
An experience to whet the appetite might be on order at York Chocolate Story where you can unwrap the history chocolate and discover the history of some of York’s most iconic chocolate brands and, of course, some tasting will be required!
Children will be fully entertained when visiting the city with activities galore such as the immersive Jorvik Viking Centre where visitors can experience the sights, sounds and smells of Viking-age York. The annual Jorvik Viking Festival is a city-wide celebration of York’s rich Norse heritage where there are over 80 events, including living history encampments, markets, workshops, talks, tours and dramatic combat performances. If the children would like a more hands-on experience, then a great family day is to be had at Dig - York. Here there are indoor excavation pits, all based on real-life digs in the city and filled with replica Roman, Viking, medieval and Victorian finds, children can grab a trowel and explore how people lived in these times.
The city hosts numerous events throughout the year including prestigious horse racing fixtures such as the Ebor Festival and the July Cup, both hosted on the beautiful Knavesmire racecourse which is just half hours walk from Number 107. This wonderful expanse of green space is also an idyllic setting for a picnic or a spot of kite flying.
Golfers certainly won’t be disappointed by the options nearby with Heworth Golf Club offering a delightful 18-hole course through the parkland and Fulford Golf Club which is one of the best golf courses in Yorkshire both located within the city boundaries.
There is plenty of other entertainment on offer too, with a host of theatres, cinemas and music venues including the York Theatre Royal which has been producing great drama for over 270 years and is one of the country’s leading producing theatres.
