The Boathouse is part of a superb, new, village-style development just a few minutes walk from Camber Sands. This two and a half mile stretch of golden sands enclosed by picturesque dunes has become somewhat of a destination and was recently voted number 9 of the 100 Best Beaches in the World by The Sunday Times Travel Magazine.

There are a number of activities on offer at Camber including swimming, both from the beach (which has been awarded a yellow flag by MCS, the highest UK award for water quality standards) and at the new indoor pool at Rye, horse-riding and kite-buggying on the beach, windsurfing (both from the beach and at Rye Windsurfing Lake), kite-surfing, dinghy sailing, canoeing, tennis and cycle hire as well as golf at the famous Rye Old Course situated just outside Camber and considered to be one of the most memorable and challenging links courses in the country.

A few minutes stroll from the house takes one to the award-winning restaurant at The Place. This chic brasserie offers delicious, simple food made from local, free range and organic ingredients including Rye Bay fish and seafood and Romney Marsh lamb. Even the wine list includes producers from Kent and Sussex.
