About Us

Crabtree & Crabtree is a family business. We live in the Tweed Valley. We were brought up here.

As children we wandered the countryside, explored the woodlands, splashed on the seashores.

This is our home, which is why we want you to feel at home in it.

Every property is hand picked by us and has to exactly match our very exacting standards. The facilities, the furnishings and the ambience.

Is the three-piece suite all in one piece? Are the beds first class tickets to the Land of Nod?

We check everything, including the kitchen sink.

From warring armies to welcoming arms. 

Everywhere you go here is marked by history. The ruins of once proud castles and abbeys scatter the landscape. The clash and clamour of battle still rings down through the ages: the carnage of Flodden Field, the marauding raids of the Border Reivers and the local feuds.

More peaceful are the great stately homes.  Floors, Mellerstain, Paxton and the like. Walk their corridors and gardens and relive an age of elegance and grandeur.

These days, of course, the welcomes are warm, not hot blooded. Enjoy a quiet pint in a village pub. Savour local dishes in friendly restaurants.

Shootin’, fishin’, golfin’ and just plain lazin’.

For anyone who follows country pursuits the Tweed Valley is one big playground, whether your target is feather, fin or a birdie on any one of over 100 golf courses.

And then there are hundreds of square miles to roam in, from the rolling hills of the Cheviots and Lammermuirs to rolling breakers on 25 miles of protected coastline.
