In low season, two guests can make use of one bedroom at the Coach House for the weekly rate of £600 and short breaks at £450. Four guests can make use of two bedrooms at the weekly rate of £900 and short breaks at £675.

Beautifully appointed, the Coach House is perfectly positioned for both coast and country and offers a perfect retreat to indulge family, friends or corporate guests to a stay in luxury surroundings. Formerly the old coach house for the Lesbury Estate, a great deal of thought has gone into the development of this property and the result is a perfect fusion of comfort and elegance with meticulous attention to detail.

The ground floor has immediate impact opening up into a generous open plan living space which flows seamlessly from the high spec catering kitchen with granite surfaces, walnut bar and wine fridge to a superb dining space which seats eight comfortably.

With high vaulted ceilings, the property has grand proportions yet retains warmth and intimacy with a double-sided wood burner connecting the dining area to the sitting area, all beautifully balanced with original stonework, rich oak floors and beams, vintage leather and Harris Tweed to introduce warmth and texture to this incredibly atmospheric space.

The four en-suite bedrooms are serene and streamlined featuring a neutral colour palette and high quality finishes which perfectly complements the rest of the property. Super king beds, luxurious duck down duvets, high quality White Company bed linen and underfloor heating in the bathrooms all add to the feeling of quality and well-being.

For country sports enthusiasts, facilities include a boot room (with underfloor heating) and gun cabinet, with kennels and stables available to guests at additional cost. Outside, there is a private courtyard with outdoor seating for al-fresco dining and summer barbecues, external storage, a communal garden, and off-street parking for four vehicles.

Local amenities

Sitting on the banks of the River Aln in the picturesque hamlet of Lesbury, there is a village shop for essential provisions, and a gentle five minute stroll from the property will take guests to the charming Coach Inn for good hearty food and real ales in warm, ambient surroundings.

The property is incredibly well placed, sitting just off the main A1 which runs right through the Northumberland coast. The nearby railway station at Alnmouth (0.5 miles) is on the main East Coast rail line, providing easy access from Edinburgh and the North, or from Newcastle and beyond from the South. Pick-ups can be arranged from the train station if required.

Guests will find a more extensive range of amenities in the coastal villages of Alnmouth (1.5 miles) and Warkworth (4.3 miles) which have plenty of restaurants, galleries, pubs, coffee shops and gift shops to choose from, all set amidst stunning surroundings.

Alternatively, a little further inland you will find an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick (4 miles), home to the fantastic Alnwick Castle and Gardens and an eclectic mix of charming specialist shops where you can wander the cobbled streets and gift shops around the marketplace, or stop-off at one of the many quaint cafes across the area for a decadent cake and freshly roasted coffee.

While there, seek out Barter Books, one of Europe’s largest book shops with thousands of paperbacks, hardbacks and collector’s editions based in a beautiful former railway station where you can ‘while-away’ an afternoon in blissful book heaven!

Activities & attractions

Set within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the wide golden sands of Alnmouth with its colourful coastal cottages will be an instant draw for visitors offering great walking, cycling and wildlife or simply rest and relaxation with a picnic full of foods from the Northumberland heartlands. The beach is easily accessible from Lesbury - a scenic twenty minute walk or a short five minute drive will take you directly onto this wonderful stretch of coastline.

From here head north and south to explore the pretty coastal villages of Craster and Warkworth, or take a boat charter from the docks of Amble Harbour to the RSPB reserve of Coquet Island which is home to over 36,000 sea birds, including thousands of characterful puffins.

For those seeking high energy adventures, the area is popular for surfing and kite surfing and there are a number of accredited surf and watersports schools up and down the coast for those looking to try something new in a relaxed teaching environment.

There are a number of walks from Lesbury to Alnmouth, including an extremely pretty 6km loop which takes in the meandering course of the River Aln, superb views of the ’18 arches’ railway viaduct, all the way down to the estuary, harbour and beach. For long distance walking routes, St.Oswald’s Way and the North Sea Trail both run nearby, and cyclists will delight at the many coves, magnificent heritage sites and wildlife havens along the Coast & Castles route which runs all the way from Edinburgh to Newcastle.

For golf fans, there are scenic courses at Foxton, Alnmouth, Alnwick and Dunstanburgh, while fishing enthusiasts can cast a line on the River Aln with permits available locally. For sporting and corporate parties, shooting can be arranged on a number of nearby estates offering excellent opportunities for both driven or walked-up shooting days. History buffs will delight in visits to the grand stately homes and medieval castles of the area - Warkworth, Bamburgh and Lindisfarne stand as reminders of the area’s turbulent past, or head inland to the magnificent Alnwick Castle and Gardens or Chillingham Castle for a super day out.

For something different, why not head to Ingram to experience a star-gazing treat under the outstanding dark skies of the Northumberland National Park, or pack your mountain bike, walking boots and climbing kit to experience the endless traffic-free trails and dramatic open landscapes of the Cheviot and Simonside Hills, taking in iron-age hill forts, Hadrian’s Wall and some amazing panoramic vistas along the way.

Large open plan living/dining/kitchen with vaulted ceilings and oak flooring throughout. The sitting room features elegant furnishings with large double sofas and armchairs in leather and tweed offering a comfortable space to relax. Double-sided woodburner (logs supplied). Technology includes a large wall mounted flatscreen TV with Freeview, DVD player and selection of DVDs.

The dining area seats eight comfortably around a large oak dining table. The professional catering kitchen with granite work surfaces is fully equipped with a 5 burner hob with wok ring, double Range cooker, full size double fridge/freezer, microwave, integrated dishwasher, and a walnut bar area with wine fridge. Large glazed doors open out into the front courtyard area.

Guest amenities
The beds are made up with high quality White Company bed linen, and a hairdryer is supplied in each bedroom. Luxurious bath sheets and hand towels are provided for guests along with hand soaps and toiletries.

Catering
The Coach House can be taken on a purely self-catered basis, or a cook can be arranged throughout guests’ stay, for breakfasts or dinners only or to provide one-off celebratory meals for a special occasion. A homemade meal delivery is popular for guests’ first night and wine delivery is available in conjunction with renowned wine merchants Corney & Barrow.

Babies and children
A travel cot and high chair are available on request.

Dogs
Two dogs are welcome at Coach House. There is a charge of £20 per dog. Dogs must be kept to the downstairs area of the property and are not permitted on the furniture. We would ask that dogs sleep in the boot room area. Crates can be provided on request.

Horses welcome
Stabling is available to guests wishing to bring their own horses for an additional fee - please enquire for details.

Outside store
There is a secure outside storage for outdoor kit such as bikes, fishing gear and golf clubs.

Garden and grounds
There is an enclosed cobbled courtyard to the front and rear of the house with outside furniture offering privacy for guests. A charcoal barbecue can be provided on request. A lawned garden sits to the side of the property which is shared with two nearby estate cottages. Directly opposite the property sits the River Aln which has an attractive lawned area with tables for picnics.
